My children have being avoid receiving acupressure on their meridians most of the time because of the fear of the pain, until one day…

“My shoulder is painful…” said my daughter.

“Where is the pain point from your shoulder?” I asked.

“Here…”, she pointed to her left shoulder. The reason why she suffered from her shoulder pain was because she used to carry the heavy bag on one side of her shoulder from day to night every day for the past of the two years. Even though she was no longer to carry that kind of heavy bag on her left shoulder but she felt very sore and pain from there every day gradually. She also felt the numbness went through her arm to her middle finger sometimes. I’d been heard her about going to see a doctor lately, so I asked her,

“Have you seen a doctor yet?”

“Not yet…”, my daughter muttered and then ran away. I guessed that she might not want to take a day off from her work to see a doctor. I felt sorry for her because I experienced how suffering it was since I was just free from an acute back spasm several days ago. It was really painful, itchy, dizzy and nauseous. I did some of acupressure myself and then stoped those symptoms at that time. Therefore I persuaded her to try acupressure today then went to see a doctor for more exams and treatments when she’s avalible.

“I’ve just tried it, and it really worked! Let’s try it to see how it work for you and then you go to the doctor for more exams and treatment? “ I said.She was a little moved, so I quickly give her the additions. I said,

“You have to accept a deeper acupressure for three days in order to make it work!” She hesitated again after her hearing. “Compared to that pain that occurs in your shoulder at any time, this pain from pressing your acupoints (note) is only temporary. Which pain would you rather choose? Besides, as soon as you feel too much pain, you can let me know, and I will reduce the pressure of immediately.” At this point, she agreed. Then I asked her,

“Please take a hot water bath for 10 to 15 minutes before we started.” “I’m ready” ,she said after five minutes later. “Alright,” I said. Then I asked her to lie down on the yoga mat, and then started to press on the Lung Meridian . After a while, I heard, “Ouch, it hurts!” She said with a frown.

“OMG, I just touched the surface of your arm lightly, I haven’t tried hard yet…” I was surprised for her condition. According to my experience of relieving my own several two days ago, It should be pressed deeper in order to cover the pain in the affected part (her shoulder), I explained to her. Then she closed her eyes helplessly. After a while, there was another “ouch” sound from her again.

“I’m sorry for all of your suffering. I’ll make it more lightly. Please take a deep breath…and then exhale slowly…”, I guided her to relax her body by exhaling and exhaling during my work. After pressing all the six meridians on her left hand, I pressed the six meridians on her right hand. I insisted on repeating it for three rounds at the pain areas. The whole process took about an hour and a half.

In the next night, I saw my daughter was swiping her phone far away from me. I had to persuade her to continue our acupressure treatment.”Ouch, it hurts!” She kept crying again and again during the whole pressing process.

“Generally, it doesn’t hurt, but if it hurts, means there is stucked“ (Note). I was trying to comfort her during my work again and again. She was getting annoyed when I completed the third meridian for her.

“It’s really painful!” She said. “Otherwise, Let me do it the same way to you then you’ll know how I feel.” She said.

“Okay,” I said with a smile. So she got up and folded her fingers to press hard on my arm a few times.

“Does it hurt?”, she asked. “It’s okay,” I replied to her. Apparently we had different pain spots. “That’s all, “ I talked to myself, “I’ve already pressed the three meridians on the inner side of her arm, and most of her severe areas are here.” So I comforted her and said, “It’s almost done. We don’t have to do the other arm today.”

On the third night, I asked my daughter, “How are you feel today? Does your left shoulder still in pain?”

“No, I’m ok now”, she replied. “Really!? Then you don’t need any acupressure today.” I laughed after hearing it. Anyway, she’d go to the doctor soon after.

A few months passed, I asked my daughter if her shoulder still hurts?

“The pain was gone!”, she said.

This time I was amazed, because my daughter never went to the doctor afterwards. I could finally let go of the stone that I was always carrying in my heart. I praised, “young people’s resilience is indeed stronger than my own. You only got acupressure for two days, and the rest of the healing process inside the body was repaired itself automatically!”

Today, three and half years later, my daughter invited me to go on an outing. I saw her swinging around with a bulging backpack on her left shoulder as before. My mind flashed a mixed feeling of worry and joy instantly. The joy one is, “Okay, the resilience of young people is really good!”. The worry one is, “will the shoulder pain recur?” When We got home, I asked my daughter if she still remembered what happened three years ago. By the way, I asked, “How is your shoulder feeling now?”

“Hmm…” she shrugged her right shoulder tentatively and then shrugged her left shoulder, then she said, “This side seems to be tight.”

【Note_The pain from pressing acupoints】
The pain from pressing acupoints/meridians is different from the pain from pressing other parts of our body. According to my experience, usually only when our body is sick and we go to find the corresponding acupoints to press at the same time. Then we could feel the difference between them. Therefore, please be careful that only the pain that falls on the acupoints/meridians is curative pressing. We don’t need more other pain from outside of the acupoints/meridains by our pressing.
