This evening, I heard my daughter’s hiccups. I thought she was probably stuffed from the suppers, and she should be fine in a while. But she’s still hiccuping after about two or three hours when I was about to go to bed. I heard her hiccups coming from the side of the desk. So I asked her: “Are you feeling uncomfortable?”
“No,” she replied.
“Do you have a regular bowel movement today?”
“Yes, I do.” she said.
I thought if I had hiccups for so long, I would feel uncomfortable. She probably didn’t want me to worry about it. So I stretched out and yelled, “I’m so bored, is there anything fun to do?” My daughter knew that I like to study meridian massage, so she put down the laptop, walked to my side then she said, “Will you help me find which acupuncture point can stop me from hiccups?”
I got up immediately searching for the acupoints which could use for stopping the hiccups. I planned to use the carpet inspection method by search while pressing to verify which acupoints were most effective to my daughter’s symptoms. My computer lists all the acupoints worked for hiccups at once. Some acupoints were on the head, some of them were on the chest and limbs. To Consider my daughter often works on the computer and is afraid of tickling. So, I started by picking the acupoint of PC8 Laogong on the palms.
.
. When I first pointed PC8 of her left palm, she didn’t feel any sore or pain, so I changed to point the PC8 on her right palm. Her hand shook suddenly, and she said, “Oh, it hurts!” I comforted her and said, “It’s good to find out the pain spot. Let’s checked more along this meridian.” As we’re talking the hiccup disappeared. The two of us looked at each other and laughed and said in the same voice: “Is it possible to be so fast?” The answer is yes! My daughter lay down beside me and fell asleep. I didn’t hear her hiccups anymore. .
