A couple years ago, my mother choked and coughed while she was eating. I asked her if she had a cold. She said no. I asked her if she felt any sick. She said neither. She told me that she was only choked by the food. She explained why she was choked because of talking and eating at the same time.

However, this kind of choking happened several times in a few days. So I asked my mother if she choked when she were eating before. My mother answered no. It seemed to be the case just in the last few days and she even didn’t aware. After I heard this kind of situation for a few days, I suddenly remembered that when my mother was not here half a year ago, she hit her right elbow by fell down to the floor while she was riding a motorcycle. And then she went to see medical treatment after the accident. It seemed to be fine. But she complained some annoyed pain which comes and goes from her right arm for a quite long time.

I told my mother, “There are several meridians of our arms which are passing through our throat. How do you think if you were chocked because of your passed injury from your right arm, then allow me to use acupressure to looking for the blocked area from your right arm?” Mother accepted, and she patiently let me acupressure for her six hand-meridians one by one.

LI11 Quchi is the fastest found pain point at the right elbow, followed by SI8 Shaohai in the small intestine meridian and TE10 Tianjing in the Sanjiao meridian.

It is interesting that along these three meridians I found more numbness acupoints on/inside her shoulder and neck such as LI15 ~ LI17, SI17, TE17, GB21. And also my mom told me, there were a burst of soreness transmitted to her fingers when I pointed with my finger on her LI17.

Here I like to mention is she was completely unaware any soreness on her shoulder and neck before receiving acupressure. Therefore, we set a circuit of acupressure treatment once a day, including the six meridians for both arms. About two weeks later, my mother no longer coughed while she was eating.
